Gods Blessings on My Family

Great and marvelous are thy works LORD God Almighty-Revelations 15:3

The LORD truly blessed me and my family this week.  My beautiful baby girl gave birth to a healthy baby boy.

Neal was born after 17 hours of labor on Thursday at 7:19 pm.

I thank GOD that both baby and mama are doing well and are home with an amazing Daddy and sister. I also think the LORD that I am unemployed and able to pitch in a little and spend the next week spoiling baby and his sister, my granddaughter, Anna.

CHAMPION in the Darkness by Tyrean Martinson

Champion in the Darkness brings us to a world where The Sword Masters, the Law-Givers and The Shepherds all follow the LORD.

I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith. ~ 2 Timothy 4:7

champion-in-the-darknessChampion in the Darkness brings us to a world where The Sword Masters, the Law-Givers and The Shepherds all follow the LORD.

Clara is about to become one of the youngest Sword Masters. However, on here way to choose her sword, she discovers that she is destined to become a Champion. Darkness attacks before she can even suggest this news and the Champion is needed.

Her faith in herself and in HIM is tested to the point of breaking as she fights back the tide of evil. This is an amazing story and we’ll with the read in itself. However, it also helped to strengthen my own faith.

Champion in the Darkness is another book I ‘bought’ for free. However, it now sells for $2.99. Still a great deal for this great read.

Have you read any good books lately? Please tell us about them. I, for one, would love to hear about them.

A Warning From Above

In Jeremiah Chapter 2, the LORD sends Jeremiah out to HIS children to admonish them for straying from HIM and to beg for them to return to HIM and his perfect LOVE.

For my people have committed two evils:  they have forsaken me, the fountain of living waters, and hewed out cisterns for themselves, broken cisterns that can hold no water.  ~ Jeremiah 2:13

In Jeremiah Chapter 2, the LORD sends Jeremiah out to HIS children to admonish them for straying from HIM and to beg for them to return to HIM and his perfect LOVE.

He warns of the consequences of their sins, forsaking HIM and worshiping other man-made Gods.

Relevance In MY Life

There was a time in my life when I would argue with anyone that said that HE was the one true god. I believed that there was a greater being or purpose but did not so much believe in HIM. I forsake the LORD and refused to believe in HIS word.

LORD, I have asked for forgiveness for forsaking you and thank you that you provided that forgiveness through your son, Jesus Christ.

Relevance In Today’s World

In current times, the most worshiped item is money. I would say that is followed closely by technology. Many have turned from worshiping our LORD for these and other idols.

This passage is true for us today even though we are living centuries from when GOD first spoke the words to Jeremiah.

LORD, I have been guilty of worshiping other god’s before. Please forgive this in your child. Also, help our world to remember who the one true GOD is. Let us go back to using money and technology as tools in your service rather than as our gods.

Assignment

  1. Read Chapter 2 of Jeremiah
  2. Reflect on yourself and admit that you may have committed either of these sins.
  3. Ask for forgiveness in Jesus name.

Breathe by Jonny Diaz

Breathe, just breathe
Come and rest at my feet
And be, just be
Chaos calls but all you really need
Is to just breathe

And Jesus answered and said unto her, Martha, Martha, you art careful and troubled about many things: But one thing if needful: Mary hath chosen that good part, which shall not be taken from her. ~ Luke 10:41-42

Let’s admit it. Life tends to get a bit hectic. Often, we find ourselves going round and round on that hamster wheel chasing that cheese. Jonny Diaz reminds us in Breathe to remember to slow down and take the time for our relationships, especially our one with the LORD.

Breathe, just breathe
Come and rest at my feet
And be, just be
Chaos calls but all you really need
Is to just breathe

Do you often get so busy that it seems you never have time for the important things? I know I do and then I hear this song.

Suzy’s Top 10 Inspirational Contemporary Songs

Praising God with Contemporary Music.

To you, O’LORD, I will make music. ~ Psalm 101:1

Or I would if I could carry a tune or play an instrument. I have always loved music, all kinds of music. I just never was gifted in that way.

However, I can listen and that I do well. In fact, as I type this I have my radio on. Of course, if I am going to listen to music now, it must be the right kind — inspirational.

I was lucky though and found an amazing contemporary Christian station, KLOVE. Have you heard of it?

Over the past few months, I have heard great songs that inspired me in my life. I am going to tell you about my top 10.

Truly, it is just 10 songs I love. I could list a lot more and may later.

10. Never Been A Moment by Micah Tyler

We all go through tough times. Micah Tyler sings about how God is always with us and loves us every moment. It’s good to know in the best of times.

9. Forgiven by Sanctus Real

We all have a past. However, in this song Sanctus Real helps us remember that we are forgiven.

8. Love Broke Through by Toby Mac

Do you remember that time when you first accepted Christ’s love. Toby Mac sings about his moment when love broke through.

7. You Are More by Tenth Avenue North

In another song that reminds us of HIS forgiveness. Tenth Avenue North tells us we have been remade. This is what the name TRUE METAMORPHOSIS means as I talk about on our home page.

4. Come Alive (Dry Bones) by Lauren Daigle

Do you ever feel unloved? In this song, Chris Tomlin praises our Heavenly Father who loves us all. HIS love is as perfect as HE is. Chris is right he is a Good Good Father.

2. Save My Life by Sidewalk Prophets

This song by Sidewalk Prophets hits real close to home for me. In fact, I cried every time I heard it. It is sung from the viewpoint of someone struggling with depression and suicidal thoughts. The song asks is you would tell someone about God’s Grace to save their life. I am glad someone did for me.

1. Jesus by Chris Tomlin

Chris Tomlin brings us another praise song that speaks for itself “Jesus.” HE is so much to any that follow HIM, as I spoke of in How I Went From Suicidal to JOY.

In Conclusion

Music has always been important to me. Now, it’s so much more because it is a way to praise God who is so worthy of our praise.

What’s your favorite inspirational song? I would love to know. Please feel free to comment.

How I Went From Suicidal to JOY

Happiness can be found in the darkest of times, if one only remembers to turn on the lights.

Happiness can be found in the darkest of times, if one only remembers to turn on the lights.

happinessA great platitude, right? Every time I ended up in the hospital for my severe depression this saying was everywhere.

A wonderful thought but what if you don’t know how to find the light switch? I searched for years while falling deeper into my self hating depression.

Now, I am going to tell you how I went from suicidal to feeling an inner JOY that radiates throughout all my days.

No, I don’t have more money — in fact, I am still jobless. I did dye my hair the other day but that wasn’t it.

light-of-lifeThe Light Switch

I do have a new love in my life. HE loves me. I know this for a fact because HE:

  • sees me as beautiful knowing all my faults.
  • listens to everything I say — even when I am rambling on about some book plot.
  • has my back, front, and sides at all times; especially, the most trying.
  • lights up my darkness with the Light of Life.

Who wouldn’t feel JOY over that kind of LOVE? HE is everything that I could wish for and none of that is why I love HIM. I love HIM because HE is:

  • generous, kind, and loving to all.
  • righteous.
  • honest.
  • willing to die for me and you.

In fact, HE did. HIS name is JESUS CHRIST.

Have you felt Christ’s love transform your depression to joy?

Call To Non Believers

You can have that LOVE and JOY as well. Anyone can. All you have to do is have the FAITH to accept HIM as your LORD and SAVIOR. Yes, CHRIST is the light switch.

HE is the only ONE that bring you inner JOY and PEACE for eternity. All other ‘fixes’ are temporary and fleeting.

Of course, you have a part to play after this. Read the Bible, find a Church nearby — or do like me watch Shepard’s Chapel and listen to KLOVE, pray, to name a few of a Christians responsibilities. However, as mentioned on this sites home page, this is easy. YOU want to do all of these.

Praising God in Troubled Times

And He said, “Naked I came from my mother’s womb and naked shall I return. The Lord gave, and the Lord has taken away; blessed be the name of the Lord.” ~ Job 1:21

And He said, “Naked I came from my mother’s womb and naked shall I return. The Lord gave, and the Lord has taken away; blessed be the name of the Lord.” ~ Job 1:21

Praising the name of the Lord comes easy during the great times. Job, a righteous man that had been greatly blessed by God, took this even further. He said the above after he lost not only all his possessions and servants but his 10 children, as well.

Could you do this? I know I didn’t.

And He said, "Naked I came from my mother's womb and naked shall I return. The Lord gave, and the Lord has taken away; blessed be the name of the Lord." ~ Job 1:21
Job 1:21

Turning Away From Jesus

My recent conversion with Jesus is not my only one. I was deep into the pentecostal church at one time thanks to my Grandfather, Popo Bossy — yes, that is what we called him.

I went to church with him every Sunday, and usually, on Wednesdays. Then, the unthinkable happened. My strong God-fearing Popo was struck down with cancer. He didn’t die quickly but painfully and slowly.

I blamed God. If he existed, how could he allow someone who was so righteous to suffer as he did? I did not have Job’s faith. Eventually, I found myself denying HIS very existence.

“A God that I wish to worship would not allow such deep suffering, not only in my grandpa but in others,” I said.

A Life Without Christ

I went from being a devout Christian to rolling my eyes at the mention of anything religious. I deeply regret that part of my daughter’s life was being raised by that person.

When I lost my faith in Christ, I lost my faith in everything; including myself. My depression — that I had suffered from early childhood — deepened to the point of creating a suicide plan on numerous occasions.

I quit caring about anything but my daughter. I went from the strong single mom that left an abusive relationship back to that person that let others take advantage of her. I even became the other woman.

In fact, the only time I ever stood for something was against any sort of religion.

I thank God that I never succeeding in completely destroying myself.

Rock Bottom

In fact, he used my circumstances to put me in the position of returning to HIS Grace. I had lost everything. My daughter is a young woman with a baby of her own. I had not held a job in ages and I had used up all my families charity. I was fixing to be homeless.

I hatched another plan. This one was fool proof. It took me a year but I saved up pills that I had received from my last stint at the mental health clinic — I had 3 bottles of Xanax. However, God would not allow me to take them. I went back to the hospital instead.

Of course, when it was time to leave, I still had nowhere to go. They found me shelter at The New Orleans Mission.

I thank the Holy Spirit for using my own self-destruction to guide me back to Jesus.

Redemption Found In Stubbornness

Now, this ‘mission’ in my mind was a cult. They made you go to church to eat and get a bed to sleep in daily. However, I could do it. I was determined.

Out of boredom, I started listening to the preacher as he gave his daily sermon. Was this when I found redemption? Na. I, being my stubborn self, decided to disagree with him. However, being fair, I decided to go to his source, The Bible.

I started reading HIS Word. While I still disagreed with the preacher on many of his interpretations, I soon became engrossed in God’s Truth. One night, as I lay there about to go to sleep after reading the book of Matthew. I found myself begging Jesus for forgiveness.

I thank Jesus for HIS forgiveness and mercy.

Praising God In Troubled Times

Job showed great faith in praising God during his times of trouble. Could you do it? I am still not sure that I will not fall again, especially when it comes to my daughter and grandchildren. I just pray that I get the point to where I could as that is the TRUE FAITH that every Christian should strive for.

We just need to remember Jesus Christ’s willingness to suffer the cross for us. I know I remind myself of that daily.

Do you struggle with any aspect of your faith?

Have you praised/cursed God in troubled times?

How do you keep your faith?

Please feel free to tell us your story after you have prayed on it. You never know God may use YOU to help someone else, including me.
