If anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old has passed away; behold, the new has come. ~ 2 Cor. 5:17
This verse came when Paul was discussing the changes that come about when one ‘truly’ devotes themselves to Christ. It is not possible for them to be the same person.
The love that fills us with the understanding that Jesus died for us and the Spirit of God drives us to become entirely new individuals, people full of God’s love and devotion to HIM.
The Lord Mended Me
Being a crafter, I can relate to taking something in it’s rawest form and creating something new. The Lord spent many years working on this particular project.
- He created a plan — even before I was born — and is following it. I plan and usually change it up a few times. Often, I create something that I have no idea what it is.
- He picked me out as I pick out my yarn. However, he overlooked my many flaws. I am a bit more picky than HIM.
- He chooses what stitches goes where — such as, me being in right place to find my way back to HIM.
I just need to let him control the stitches — easier said than done. Even with my wanting to follow HIS plan, I still find myself trying to forge my own path.
Christ Reinvented Me
For someone that has attempted to ‘reinvent’ herself several times, this concept of being a new creation has fascinated me for years. However, I truly did not understand until I completely gave myself to The Lord and accepted Christ inside my heart.
I failed always in the past because I was trying to do it myself. The only one that could give me TRUE metamorphosis is Christ.
This does not mean that I have all the answers. I am often unsure of what HE wants me to do. What can I, an unemployed twice divorcee, give to the one that created The World?
However, I am willing to put in any work necessary to discover HIS plans for me and how I can best serve HIM which includes:
- Bible Study
- Listening to Contemporary Christian Music
- The Spirit Guides Me
I am slowly learning my way.
Yes, I am a new person in my desire to serve HIM and the Godly love that fills my soul. This does not mean that I know what is best. In fact, I have to accept that I don’t know anything about my true purpose on this Earth.
I just have faith that the Spirit of God is guiding me. For example, often I will turn on an episode of Shepard’s Chapel — my regular Bible study — or hear a song that is talking about the very issue that I am wrestling with.
Metamorphosis in Christ
Like a butterfly, I am a completely new being. However, a butterfly instinctively knows how to fly. I am still floundering in many ways.
I thank the Lord for HIS mercy and understanding. I thank Jesus for allowing me to be saved, even though I denied HIM for years. I thank the Spirit for guiding me to several resources to help me learn HIS plan.
Have you been changed by Christ?
Do you often find yourself following your own path?
How has the Spirit guided you?
